Your Role

This is a great opportunity for scientists eager to contribute to the development of innovative products for patients living with dermatologic diseases. You will play a crucial role in the development of new topical formulations and drug products for clinical phases.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Responsibility  for executing formulation design and development experiments in the early LEO project pipeline – write protocols, generate formulation concepts, follow up on data and communicate to project teams and line of business
• Evaluating and reporting results in electronic lab notes, as well as reviewing scientific reports
• Participating in topical development project teams as the responsible formulation scientist, giving input to overall project CMC strategies as well as developing and executing on formulation development plans
• Drive innovation and actively contribute to creative processes — both within LEO Pharma and in collaboration with external partners
• Contributing to the digital transformation of formulation development processes
• Providing oversight of activities at Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisations (CDMOs) to secure  execution and timely delivery of project milestones
• Preparing relevant M3 sections in regulatory documentation to  authorities

As a Principal Formulation Scientist, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments within the organisation to contribute to the successful development of drug products. Your expertise and contributions will be essential in shaping the future of pharmaceutical development at LEO Pharma.

Your Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with a positive, collaborative mindset — curious and open‑minded, eager to explore new perspectives and apply fresh learnings.

• At least 5 years of experience within pharmaceutical science and pre-formulation, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
• A relevant degree at Masters level or a PhD in pharmaceutical science, pre-formulation, or a related field
• Expert knowledge in pre-formulation work and formulation development, preferably within topical drug product development
• Hands-on experience from an formulation laboratory in pharmaceutical development
• Experience from working with external  development laboratories and manufacturing – outsourcing processes

You will join our dynamic team in Ballerup – a group of 11 dedicated scientists and technicians with a shared passion for designing and developing topical formulations within Pharmaceutical Development.

We work closely together and across LEO Pharma to ensure the successful development of new drug products that make a real difference for patients.
