Associate Director, US Field Medical Training & Congress Strategy

Your Role: 

The Associate Director, US Field Medical Training and Congress Strategy is responsible for leading the US Field Medical training, onboarding, scientific readiness, congress strategy, and congress execution framework across the portfolio. This role ensures MSLs, MOLs, and Field Medical colleagues are prepared to deliver high-quality scientific exchange, execute consistently at key congresses, capture actionable insights, and support Medical Affairs priorities.  

Your Responsibilities: 

Field Medical Training and Capability Development 

• Develop, lead, implement, and continuously improve the US Field Medical training plan in collaboration with Field Medical Excellence, Field Medical Leadership, Medical Directors, Global Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Publications, and subject matter experts. 

• Lead Field Medical onboarding for new MSLs and MOLs, including onboarding structure, stakeholder coordination, field readiness milestones, scientific knowledge expectations, skills development, and effectiveness evaluation. 

• Develop and/or manage the development of medical training slides, field readiness materials, scientific narratives, role-play scenarios, knowledge assessments, congress briefing materials, and other learning resources for review and approval by medical leadership. 

• Establish and track training effectiveness measures, including knowledge retention, skill development, onboarding progression, field readiness, training completion, learner feedback, and training-related outcomes. 

Congress Strategy, Readiness, and Execution 

• Develop and lead the US Field Medical congress strategy across the portfolio, including annual congress prioritization, Field Medical objectives, coverage models, insight priorities, pre-congress planning, on-site execution, and post-congress follow-up. 

• Establish standards for pre-congress planning and readiness activities, including session prioritization, key data review, competitive intelligence preparation, stakeholder mapping, congress briefing materials, field team huddles, and scientific exchange preparation. 

• Work with MSL congress leads to coordinate Field Medical congress coverage, including MSL/MOL assignments, scientific session monitoring, internal communication, insight capture, stakeholder engagement support, and escalation of key scientific or competitive intelligence themes. 

• Design and implement post-congress debrief and reporting standards, synthesizing scientific insights, competitive intelligence, stakeholder feedback, field observations, strategic implications, and recommended follow-up actions. 

Cross-functional Leadership and Execution 

• Serve as a strategic partner to ensure training and congress activities are aligned, compliant, and operationally effective. 

• Participate in Medical and cross-functional teams to lead or support training, congress, scientific readiness, competitive intelligence, and field-capability projects. 

• Identify risks, gaps, resource needs, and execution barriers related to Field Medical training, onboarding, congress coverage, scientific readiness, and stakeholder engagement; propose solutions and lead implementation plans. 

Your Qualifications: 

• PharmD, Ph.D., MD, DO preferred. 

• 5+ years of MSL, Medical Affairs, clinical training, or relevant pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, with dermatology and/or immunology background preferred. 

• Demonstrated experience developing and executing Field Medical training, onboarding, capability development, scientific readiness, or Medical Affairs learning programs. 

• Demonstrated experience supporting or leading medical congress planning, congress readiness, congress coverage, scientific session prioritization, congress insight generation, and/or post-congress reporting preferred. 

• Strong understanding of Medical Affairs strategy, Field Medical operations, scientific communications, publications, competitive intelligence, congress engagement, and applicable laws, regulations, and compliance standards. 

• Experience leading cross-functional projects, managing vendors, coordinating complex timelines, aligning stakeholders, managing budgets, and communicating outcomes to leadership. 

• Ability to translate complex scientific data, congress updates, clinical evidence, and competitive intelligence into effective Field Medical training, briefing materials, and strategic recommendations. 

• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, with increased travel during major congresses, national meetings, and training events. 

Your New Team 

You'll work closely with Field Medical Leadership, the Senior Director of US Field Medical, Medical Directors, MSL and MOL teams, and US Field Medical Excellence to advance scientific readiness and field capabilities. In this highly collaborative role, you'll also partner with Scientific Communications, Publications, Global Medical Affairs, Competitive Intelligence partners and vendors, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Finance, Procurement, congress planning vendors and external agencies, as well as cross-functional leaders across Sales Training, Marketing, and other US business functions, to align training and congress activities with medical strategy, scientific narratives, competitive intelligence priorities, compliance requirements, and measurable business impact. 

Compensation: 

The base salary range for this position is $180,000-230,000 per year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the LEO Pharma range for this position. Salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
