Your Role

As Associate Director, Business Finance, you will lead OPEX management for LEO Pharma's US affiliate, while understanding and reporting on revenue and other elements of the US and North American P&L.   This role will be responsible for maintaining and partnering with financial services in order to meet regional, global, and US- specific reporting requirements.  This position will also be involved in pricing assumptions, evaluation and integration of business development opportunities, and will serve as the financial lead on new product launches.  The Associate Director will be a key liaison for Global activities in the Business Finance team, coordinating across key functions to ensure that the short-term and long-term objectives of the company are met.  

 

Your Responsibilities

Leadership:  
•    Responsible for the performance of the North American Business Finance projects and matrix teams.


Financial Planning/Forecasting:
•    Drive and improve the affiliate planning process, including meaningful variance analysis. Ensure link between strategy and operational plans. 
•    Coordinate zero based budgeting; all submissions are supported by specific initiatives
•    Ability to challenge submissions by Finance and Leadership Team support backed by a solid understanding of the business
•    Responsible for ensuring that key drivers behind budget/estimate variances are understood and clearly communicated to Leadership team
•    Continuously improve the local Budget/Planning process including coordination of budget/planning process with business partners
•    Partner with US and CA Commercial Analytics team to ensure short-term and long-term sales forecasts are consistently developed and documented.
•    Work with Commercial teams to ensure affiliate meets OPEX forecast accuracy KPI 
•    Act as a sparring partner for GtN assumptions and, in coordination with the VP, head of NA finance, maintain oversight of GtN assumptions

 

Reporting:
•    Responsible for ensuring that internal reporting has been set up to meet the needs of the Finance, Commercial and Leadership Team.
•    Provide monthly sales and expense variance analysis to Corporate, identifying the business drivers behind variances and provide forward looking insights. Develop “early warnings” in reporting to allow potential issues and financial impact to be reported early. Analysis to include the following:
•    Gross and Net Sales analysis by Product (In conjunction with GtN manager)
•    Price Volume Analysis by Product
•    Net Pricing Analysis by Products
•    Gross to Net By Channel Analysis (In conjunction with GtN manager)
•    Department Expenses by key drivers
•    Headcount reporting (In conjunction with Manager of S&W expenses)
•    Established vs Innovative reporting

 

Strategic Performance Management:
•    Establish yourself as “trusted partner” for business managers. 
•    Prepare reports and analysis for executive management as requested
•    Proactively identify analysis projects for team to complete. 

 

State Transparency Pricing:
•    Co-lead the state price transparency committee
•    Evaluate and document state requirements
•    Prepare and calculate pricing triggers and evaluate potential requirements to pricing committee based upon proposed pricing actions 

 

New Product Launches:
•    Support VP, Head of Finance, North America on new product launches
•    Assist in the development of business cases with a focus on gross to net and operating expenses
•    Ensure management reporting capabilities are established within all reporting systems

 

Business Development Evaluations:
•    Support VP, Head of Finance, North America on new product launches 
•    Assist in developing business models with the Commercial Analytics and Global teams
•    Identify potential opportunities and risks on deal terms
•    Lead the financial integration with a focus on transition service agreements and government pricing requirements

 

Other:
•    Responsible for approving expenses in collaboration with finance business partners and coordinating US Government Rebates invoices with the manager of Government Pricing
•    Assist the Commercial teams in evaluating of co-pay design and offerings
•    Coordinate with trade organization and third party logistic provider on in market supply issues / requests 
•    Lead/co-lead on Global Finance projects
•    Responsible for tracking and managing insurance contracts and payments

 

Your Qualifications

•    7+ years in relevant finance roles
•    4+ years of US Pharmaceutical finance experience, with external audit experience preferred
•    Demonstrated strong pharmaceutical business acumen and intellectual curiosity
•    MBA and/or CPA/CMA certification are preferred
•    Must be flexible, able to operate independently and be comfortable with business ambiguity. 
•    Requires a mature finance partner with a presence, intellect, and skill to establish rapport and credibility at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
•    Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate and evaluate a business case and lead others to a common goal. 
•    Work in a collaborative, team environment. Feel comfortable challenging our business partners and making recommendations. 
•    Have unwavering commitment to quality and excellence and uphold the highest professional standards
•    Can address challenges both hands-on and as a project team leader

•    Able to travel up to 20%
