Role Description

Position Objective: 

The Associate Director, Sales Training leads the design, development, and implementation of disease, product, and skill-based training material for the North American (US and Canada) sales force. Identifies, builds, and executes development solutions that enhance customer engagement, and improve knowledge and skills for field-based employees. Responsible for overseeing and maintaining vendor relationships and work closely with the Director of Sales Training, marketing and sales leadership, and others on new product launch strategy and training, the development of new hire onboarding, National Sales Meetings, Plan of Action Meetings, and pull-through training.

 

Role & Responsibilities: 

The Associate Director, Sales Training will:

 

  • Collaborate effectively with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Area Field Trainers, Market Access and Patient Services, Medical, Legal, Regulatory, and other strategic partners to ensure training content accurately reflects product knowledge, market trends, compliance protocols, and customer needs.
  • Contribute to successful product launches by conducting needs analyses, developing strategic plans for launch training, and developing needed training materials in partnership with vendors, as needed.
  • Integrate launch training into new-hire onboarding to ensure newly hired TSSs and RBMs are successful.
  • Oversee the field training program, including providing support to area field trainers.
  • Design, implement, and facilitate Regional Business Manager onboarding and professional development training to ensure progressive development to advanced competency.
  • Facilitate exceptional training sessions that capitalize on adult learning principles and result in TSS certification as required.
  • Generate metrics and apply analytics to assess the efficacy of training programs including evaluation of field coaching reports.
  • Regularly present leadership with comprehensive reports detailing training outcomes and insights for improvements.
  • Manage vendors to ensure work product is aligned to the statement of work and delivered on time and on budget.
  • Ensure work is compliant with LEO and regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee agenda and content development for training activities at National Sales Meeting, Plan of Action Meetings, and Launch Meetings for launch products.
  • Seek to develop in the functional areas of training, specifically:
    • Training delivery
    • Instructional design
    • Training project management
    • Knowledge and information management
  • Complete all company-based and job-related training as assigned by LEO Pharma within the required timeline.

Additional duties as assigned by LEO Pharma Management.

 

Requirements: 

  • BA/BS required.
  • Master's or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years pharmaceutical or biotech experience, dermatology experience preferred, device sales a plus.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in sales training. Experience supporting sales training in Canada preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ sales manager experience required.
  • Experience writing and developing training programs and materials.
  • Experience with managed care, reimbursement, and specialty pharmacy preferred.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills; ability to make large group presentations at regional and national meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new and creative solutions to a variety of challenging problems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,) Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Teams and Adobe Connect or similar.
  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Proven understanding of selling skills and disease state knowledge (dermatology experience preferred).
  • The ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 50%; some nights, weekends and overnight travel may be required to attend meetings, field rides, and congresses.
