Role Description

Your Role: 

The Rare Disease Sales Consultant is responsible for implementing LEO Pharma Dermatology sales and marketing plans to maximize distribution and market penetration within company guidelines and policies. This role engages key medically complex Dermatology clinics and targeted IONs, Infusion Centers, NPs, PAs, and other allied healthcare professionals. 

The individual proactively responds to business needs and supports teaching and community health systems. They serve as a subject matter expert in complex reimbursement structures and the ultra‑rare patient journey. The position also requires managing a geography that may involve overnight travel and occasional evening or weekend dermatology meetings. 

 

This is a field-based role, covering our greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. territory. 

 

Your Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain strong product knowledge and effective selling skills to influence targeted healthcare professionals to support LEO Pharma products. 

  • Build strong relationships with customers as a consultative partner who understands the rare dermatology environment. 

  • Execute brand strategies and business plans to deliver consistent sales and marketing messages.  

  • Prepare pre‑call plans that support the needs of Dermatology HCPs and their accounts. 

  • Develop and maintain networks with HCPs, including infusion centers, and follow up with all stakeholders in a timely manner. 

  • Use LEO Pharma sales training techniques to support scientific discussions that help HCPs make patient care decisions. 

  • Use VEEVA and BI tools to plan your activity, monitor materials, and maintain accurate account and HCP records. 

  • Lead by example by completing all sales training and administrative tasks on time; share best practices and help identify payer and customer trends in your region. 

  • Manage programs and budgets within LEO standards and work with leadership and marketing teams to effectively use company resources, including speakers. 

  • Create a personal development plan and review it twice a year with leadership; support special programs that help develop peers across the region. 

  • Work closely with cross‑functional partners, including Rare Disease Sales Consultants, Key Account Managers, Payer Relations, Field Medical, Speaker Program Support, and Marketing. 

 

Your Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required 

  • A minimum of 5 years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience with a minimum of 3 years rare disease specialty care experience required, OR 8 years successful pharmaceutical sales experience  

  • In-depth understanding of economics/business across all settings, the evolving reimbursement environment and evolution of specialty distribution and patient support services. 

  • Expertise in the learn principles with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex data to targeted customers and leverages the customer centricity model when developing Business plans. 

  • Working knowledge of the PhRMA guidelines and other regulatory statutes (e.g. POMA, Sunshine Act) that affect pharmaceutical promotion and ensure compliance with all BI policies and procedures. 

  • Experience in rare or ultra-rare orphan drug launches, specialty pharmacy distribution, buy and bill, infusion therapy and medically complex dermatology strongly preferred.  

  • Ability to travel with overnights and attendance at some weekend programs. 

 

The base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $195,000 per year. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the LEO Pharma range for this position. Salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
