Build a future legacy in medical dermatology
At LEO Pharma, we are global leaders in medical dermatology with more than 118 years of innovation behind us—and an even more ambitious future ahead. Every year, nearly 100 million people have a better day because of our medicines. We are now seeking a Vice President, Head of Global Medical Affairs to lead and elevate our worldwide Medical Affairs function — and to serve as a core strategic partner within our Global Product Strategy organization, shaping integrated product, evidence, launch, and lifecycle strategies for our LEO portfolio.
In Medical Affairs, we embrace a “challenge accepted” mindset, guided by our winning behaviours of simplification, collaboration, and accountability.
The role
As Global Head of Medical Affairs, you will have end to end leadership and accountability for the Global Medical Affairs function, setting its vision, strategy, operating model, and performance across the entire portfolio and product lifecycle.
You will establish Medical Affairs as a core strategic pillar of LEO Pharma by ensuring that medical strategy is fully embedded in product strategy — from evidence planning through launch, adoption, and lifecycle management. Working as a senior enterprise leader alongside Commercial, Development, Market Access, and Regulatory, you will ensure medical insight actively shapes asset value, differentiation, access, adoption, and patient outcomes.
This role owns global launch excellence, scientific and medical positioning, evidence generation, publications, congress strategy, medical education, external engagement, and insight leadership—clearly linking medical activity to business and patient impact through robust KPIs, governance, and ROI focused resource management.
The successful candidate will be expected to act as a true global-to-country connector — bringing country insights into global strategy early, translating global medical priorities into clear local direction, and ensuring Medical Affairs is a strong partner to both global functions and country leadership.
Key responsibilities:
Cross-functional product strategy leadership
- Act as a senior strategic partner within Global Product Strategy, ensuring Medical Affairs is fully integrated into brand, asset, access, launch, and lifecycle strategies
- Co-create integrated product strategies with Brand, Payer Value & Access, Commercial, Development, and key markets
- Translate medical insights, external expert input, evidence gaps, and patient needs into clear strategic choices for the portfolio and priority brands
- Challenge and shape cross-functional decisions with a strong medical voice, while aligning behind shared enterprise priorities
- Ensure Medical Affairs contributes to, and is accountable for, integrated planning, launch readiness, evidence planning, and global-to-local execution
Enterprise and global-with-country medical leadership
- Lead the Global Medical Affairs function worldwide, with full accountability for global medical strategy, performance, governance, budget, and talent
- Build a Global Medical Affairs organization that acts as a true strategic partner to country Medical Directors, MSL leaders, and cross-functional market leadership
- Ensure global medical strategies are co-created with priority countries, ensuring local medical insight, customer needs, healthcare system dynamics, and execution realities shape global plans from the start
- Define the global medical vision, operating model, resource allocation, and standards for excellence across the portfolio and product lifecycle
- Translate global medical strategy into clear guidance, frameworks, scientific narratives, evidence priorities, and execution tools that enable markets to implement with consistency and appropriate local adaptation
- Serve as a trusted executive partner, shaping asset, brand, access, launch, and lifecycle strategies with cross-functional peers and country leadership
- Establish strong two-way feedback loops between global and country teams, ensuring field medical insights, external expert perspectives, and market learnings continuously inform global strategy
Global brand, asset, and launch leadership
- Lead global brand medical teams across launches, congress strategies, scientific platforms, and KOL engagement
- Ensure integrated medical, evidence, and insight plans aligned to TPPs, labelling, HTA and payer requirements
- Provide final medical oversight and scientific review to ensure integrity and compliance
Evidence generation and scientific impact
- Own the global evidence generation strategy (RWE, ISS/IIS, pre and post approval studies)
- Align evidence with access, reimbursement, and differentiation needs
- Govern study intake, ethics, publication planning, and data transparency
External engagement and insight leadership
- Lead global engagement with KOLs, scientific societies, patient organizations, payers, and policymakers
- Ensure systematic capture and translation of insights into strategic decisions
Global to local leadership and medical excellence
- Lead and align affiliate Medical Affairs organizations globally, enabling strong local execution
- Build field medical excellence, medical education, and evidence capabilities
- Harmonize SOPs, training, quality frameworks, and audit readiness
People, culture, and compliance
- Attract, develop, and retain diverse, high performing medical talent globally
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics, compliance, scientific integrity, and patient centricity
Your profile
- MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
- 12+ years of progressive leadership in Medical Affairs, including senior global line leadership
- Demonstrated success leading global medical strategy, evidence generation, publications, and launches
- Strong enterprise partnership with Commercial, R&D, Market Access, and Regulatory
- Experience in dermatology, rare disease, immunology, or specialty care strongly preferred
- Deep expertise in medical governance, compliance, and global codes
- Strategic, influential leader with executive presence and change leadership capability
- High integrity, resilience, and a drive to challenge the status quo
